Maxwell-Gunter Lodging - Air Force Inn
| The University Inn lodging complex on Maxwell and Gunter AFB is one of the largest lodging operations in the world with over 2300 rooms. Every room is equipped to meet all Air Force standards, a few select rooms have micro kitchens which include a stove top. The majority of our property is dedicated to the thousands of students attending classes with Air University. Space Available lodging is often available but can be seasonal depending on class schedules. Please call for availability and current reservation options. Frequently Asked Questions? 1. If I’m coming to Maxwell or Gunter “TDY to School” do I need to make reservations? No you do not! Your host school has taken the responsibility for your lodging requirements and has made reservations for you. You can call your school to verify your lodging arrangements or you can send an e-mail to Lodging.TDY-to-School@maxwell.af.mil to confirm your reservation 2. What if I’m coming to Maxwell or Gunter on official business that is not related to a school? As soon as you get your orders you can call our official travel line DSN 493-1690 for Maxwell AFB, DSN 416-4656 for Gunter-Annex or you can make your reservation request on line by clicking on the link above. 3. “What is your Space A Policy? Space Available reservations are taken at a minimum 3 days before your requested arrival. Because availability is seasonal, some periods of the year, reservations are accepted up to 30 days in advance. Recommend you call our Space Available line 334-953-3931 or DSN 493-3931 for Maxwell AFB and 334-416-4656 or DSN 596-4656 for Gunter-Annex. 4. “Can I just show up at the reception desk and get a room today? Yes you can, but all same day reservations, regardless of reason for visit may require you be placed on a wait list until 1800 hrs. At 1800 hrs all unconfirmed reservations are cancelled and those rooms become available. 5. What are your room rates? Room Rates For the most up to date room rates call DSN 493-1690/3931 334-953-1690/ 334-953-3931 6. What if I'm going to check in late? Guests who will be arriving after 1800, must guarantee their reservations with a valid credit card. It is the guest's responsibility to ensure a valid credit card is given to hold the room after 1800. At 1800 the front desk will cancel all reservations not held with credit cards. 7. How do I pay for my lodging? All rooms must be paid for in advance by cash, check, VISA or Mastercard. 8. How many days am I authorized in a TLF? Military members PCS-inbound to Maxwell/Gunter are authorized up to 30 days, extensions past 30 days require approval of the Director of SVS. Military members PCS-out of Maxwell/Gunter are authorized 7 days, extensions past 7 days are considered on a space-available basis as a new requirement. 9. How do I get to University Inn from I-65? If you are approaching the base from I-65 South, take the Clay Street exit, from I-65 North, take the Herron Street exit. Follow the signs to Maxwell Air Force Base. Enter the gate through the lane on the right. Go through the traffic light and veer to the right at the Y in the road. Follow the signs to lodging. 10. What type of Telephone Service do you provide to guests? We have your typical hotel style telephone system at the University Inn. Callers can be connected to your room, or leave a voicemail. It is Air Force Inns policy that we cannot give out a guest room number, so please advise your family members of your extension once you arrive. From your room you can make room to room, local and DSN calls at no charge. You can also make long distance calls directly or use prepaid phone cards. There is a nominal fee for all toll free calls.
